Tag 1 - Journey and bat caves

After some detours we arrived safely at the hotel. The rooms are spacious and functional and after some first adjustments (like chasing out a big gecko) everyone is settled in.

At the resort there is a nice pool and after some free time to roam around and Til's birthday celebration we went to the bat caves. Inside the the small cave were around 10'000 small horseshoe bats sleeping (as good as you can with 24 not so quiet kids). Outside we waited for the swarming out of the big cave with 1 million bats.

Back at the resort we ate spaghetti, made the room signs and played games.

Day 2 - Khao Yai Nature Reserve

Although the bedtime was a bit late, most of the children are up early. But it's pretty cold here!

Then i was time for the first hike at Khao Yai National Park. There was a lot to see for those interested. Right at the beginning, a large gecko hung motionless on a tree. The trees themselves were also interesting, like the giant fig tree.

We had lunch at the headquarters of the park and there were also many animals like the typical hornbill. On the way to the resort a big elephant, quickly named Victor, was posing on the road.

Back at the resort was pool time before we wrote reports and letters. In the evening we play board games.

Day 3 - Chokchai Farm

Today we had a tour of the Chokchai farm. We learned about cows, milking and ice cream making. The leisure activities and shows such as the cowboy show and the dogs were of course also great. The latter were so cute that a few of us could hardly stop petting them.

After a noodle soup for lunch, the pool Olympics were announced. Did I mention that the pool is pretty cold? But of course there were picture opportunities.

Everyone was allowed to make a burger for dinner and there was a digital scavenger hunt as an evening program (with a scary ending :-))

Day 4 - Hiking and camping in Khao Yai

On Thursday we had to pack our things because we spend the night at the campground in Khao Yai National Park.

First we did a jungle hike. This was varied with narrow paths and several river crossings (due to the drought the water level was very low).

Back in civilization we ate Kao Pad. Then we went to the normally big waterfall, which only trickled.

At the campground we set up the tents, then it was time to play. Soon a group started barbecuing: Bratwurst, vegetables and fruits and stick bread.

At night we did a night safari before we ended with a marshmellow-cookie-dessert and werewolf game. Shortly after everyone was in their tents, deer and wild boar were sneaking around.

Day 5 - A shower and the way home

What a treat: a shower at the hotel andthere was breakfast. Soon after we where on our journey home. What a nice week!
